Saudi Arabia's newly appointed ambassador to Iran formally present his credentials

Saudi Arabia's recently appointed ambassador to Tehran formally presented a copy of his credentials to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. This diplomatic gesture comes after his recent arrival and aims to strengthen relations and communication between the two countries. The Saudi Embassy in Tehran resumed operations last month after a hiatus of over seven years. In a reciprocal move, Iran's new ambassador to Saudi Arabia also submitted his credentials. This development marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to mend relations between the two influential countries in West Asia and the Muslim world, which severed diplomatic ties in 2016 but have been engaged in fence-mending talks since April 2021, ultimately resulting in a breakthrough earlier this year.
